With modern vehicles, we're lucky to have technology that assists us when driving as it helps monitor our surroundings, and provides us with alerts to safely navigate city streets and byways. Of course, we still have to do our part to stay safe, and even when we do our best, accidents can happen. If you get in a car accident, don't find yourself asking what to do. Be prepared and we're here to show you how with a couple quick tips from Pigg Enterprises.

• First, do not leave the scene because that's a crime and not cool!
• Make sure you and others in your car are safe, and if you can exit the vehicle safely, get out, and see if the other car and its passengers are safe, while also making sure to have your flashers on or using your roadside emergency kit to alert drivers with something like a reflector or flares
• If possible, move vehicles safely off the road to avoid having it take up traffic
• Get in touch with the police so they can be on the scene and file a police report, even with minor damage as that will come in handy for your auto insurance claim
• Also be sure to accurately detail what happened and have documentation of any vehicle damage and injuries you might have sustained too
• Get the other drivers' insurance and contact information and exchange yours with them as well so you can begin the claims process
• Reach out to your auto insurance company so they can get started on your claim and have everything prepared
• If you need medical attention, make sure you get it as soon as you can, too

It's important that once you're safe and okay from any accident that you maintain your cool and go through the steps calmly, as that will benefit you through the process, and hopefully get you through it stress-free.
